Accredited action learning and skills development for social housing managers

Over the past four years Shared Intelligence has developed a highly regarded action-learning programme for neighbourhood management teams based within social housing organisations. Each programme has lasted nine months, during which time participants design locally-appropriate approaches to solving practical housing management problems, such as neighbourhood agreements, and innovative methods for engaging local communities. Some have been tailored to the needs of a single housing provider, and some have brought together staff from different organisations.

We originally designed the programme to translate into practice, national research we conducted for Communities and Local Government (CLG) into neighbourhood charters and neighbourhood agreements. But the programme has evolved to focus on the needs of frontline housing staff trying to reconcile traditional models of housing management (rents, repairs and lettings) within a much wider context of comprehensive wrap-around services for residents. It aims to help staff manage competing pressures at the local level, whilst also reacting to a changing national policy and regulatory environment.

The programme is based a rigorous action-learning model of problem-solving and shared learning which Shared intelligence has developed and refined over the past decade and is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

I found this course different, very effective, and succinctly anchored by very knowledgeable trainers. I particularly enjoyed the ‘mini projects’ and the reflective learning approach which allowed us thinking space. A really useful course and I still use the tips I learnt from it in my day to day job! (Regional Manager from a major social housing provider)
